Today I had the opportunity of going to a leadership/training meeting for pastors/missions. It was a really good opportunity to find out more about what a missionary's life is like. On Sunday they had a graduation for the seminary/leadership school. At the meeting they were discussing different thoughts and ideas about the graduation and how they could improve it. They also discussed different ideas on how they could improve the seminary. After the meeting I went to lunch at Subway with my translator. It was the first time I've had Subway in Quito but it tasted the same as in America. After that we walked back to Patricio's place and hung out for a while. It was a good afternoon of fellowship. We talked about God's call on people's lives to missions. We were talking about how being a missionary is not always easy, sometimes it is really hard but it is important to know that God is calling you to missions. Without that, you won't be able to make it. I don't want an easy life; I want to go where Christ's name is not known.
Tomorrow morning I will be evangelizing at one of the parks in Quito. There is no greater privilege than being able to share the gospel with another person. I was listening to a movie that had an interview from Steve Saint. In the interview he said that people had asked why his father and the other missionaries were in Ecuador. He gave an example of when he was in college, smelled smoke and realized that the dorm was on fire. He said that he saw people go past his room but nobody had bothered to knock on his door. When he got outside he had asked them why they hadn't knocked on his door to tell him that the dorm was on fire. They said they didn't think about it. He asked them how they could be his friend and now warn him that there was a fire going on. He then went on to say that this was the same with the gospel. Because we know what Jesus has done for us we have the responsibility of sharing that with others. If they choose not to follow Christ that is not our responsibility, but it is our responsibility to tell them. If we do not tell them what Christ has done for them and they die then it will be partly our responsibility. There will never be a better time than now to share with the world what Christ has done!
